Hello there! I'm here today with a fun little questionnaire for the Creative Blog Hop! My friend Meredith, aka Crafty Math Chick nominated me to play along and I am so honored to do so! I have known Meredith for a few years now, she is a fellow dog lover/dog momma and also a military spouse, so we have lots in common aside from crafting! See her blog HERE and be amazed at her CRAFTINESS!
Here are my answers to the hop questions!
Q: What am I working on right now?
A: I am deep in preparation mode for the Reverse Confetti November Release sneak peeks!! I can't wait to start sharing these projects because this is seriously the best release ever. Reverse Confetti Christmas release!!!!!!!!! AHHH!! I am so excited about it I just can't stand it, haha!
Q: How does my work differ from others in my genre?
A: I don't know, I think we all bring something different and unique to our stamping style. While I have a style that matches many other stampers, I always try to come up with something unique and mine. Lately, it's been watercolor and mixed media. If I can pull out my watercolors and create a fun background or focal point, I am a happy girl!!
Q: Why do I create what I do?
A: Cause I want to. And cause it's fun. LOL...that really is about it!
Q: How does my creative process work?
A: Usually, as I'm looking around on pinterest or crafty blogs, inspriration will hit me out nowhere. I'll get an idea or layout stuck in my head and have to get it out asap! I always start with a stamp set I want to use, and then decide on papers and embellies as I go. Nothing is pre-planned. This is one reason it's so hard for me to craft with friends, outside of my own home. I never know what I want to use, and if I pack a bunch of stuff to take to a crop, I'll always forget something important, or not have what I need. I just need to be surrounded by my stuff and be able to grab it without even thinking about it.
I even have a card to share today! I recently got the new stamps and dies from Ellen Hutson's new line, Essentials by Ellen! I fell in love with these stamps and dies as soon as I saw them. For my card today, I used Brushstroke Christmas...
I started this card knowing that I wanted to create a starry sky for the background, and this stamp set has the most amazing star stamps! I love the sketchy line stars, how fun are they??? I embossed the stars in white on a piece of Tim Holtz's watercolor paper and then scribbled on some color with a few Tombow watercolor markers in different shades of blue. Next, I grabbed a paintbrush and moved the color around. These markers...*sigh* they make me so happy...just look at that amazing color! I matted this piece with another piece of white cardstock. I cut some scallop edges with some MFT dies out of silver foil cardstock, did some sewing, and then popped all of it up on dimensionals on the starry sky background. I wrapped some gray twine around the card front and then popped the whole thing up on dimensionals on the black card base. I went around the stars and sentiment with my clear Wink of Stella pen for some shimmer.
I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch for the card layout.
Now...I get to nominate two of my friends to join in this blog hop and post answers to these questions next Monday!
1. I nominate my good ole buddy Christy Stanford! She is a very sweet friend of mine, a fellow doggy-momma, and fellow Air Force spouse. We met online at Splitcoast Stampers in 2007'ish when we were both heading to Okinawa Japan. We got to know each other quite well in Oki and I miss her dearly! We have the same taste in music and cheesy 80's movies. I never met another person who loved the movie "Supergirl" but she does...and that makes her pretty special in my book:) Christy's Blog is full of gorgeous Stampin' Up projects so I do hope you'll check out her blog!
2. My fellow Verve diva Teresa Kline! We've been on the Verve DT together forEVER and I just love all of her projects! Teresa has the most amazing shabby chic style, I always wish I could pull it off but I just never get there, lol! She's such a sweetie and I hope you'll go visit her at her blog Paperie Blooms!
Thanks again to Crafty Math Chic for nominating me! I am honored and had so much fun sharing a little insight to my crafty style:) Can't wait to see Christy and Teresa's posts NEXT Monday!
Have a fabulous week, everyone, and thanks for stopping by!
